St. Clair County Circuit Judge Chris Kolker presents a $14,500 check to Clarissa Gaff, Executive Director of Land of Lincoln Legal Aid.
Land of Lincoln Legal Aid has received a $14,500 donation resulting from a court case presided over by St. Clair County Circuit Judge Chris Kolker. The funds will support Land of Lincoln’s work providing free civil legal services to low-income and senior residents throughout central and southern Illinois.
“Land of Lincoln provides important legal help for people who can least afford attorneys,” Judge Kolker said. “We are very happy to provide a donation so they can continue to do important work.”
The funds resulted from a sanction entered in a case after a party failed to follow court orders. In some cases, funds collected through the court may be directed to charitable organizations serving the community.
“We are incredibly grateful for this generous contribution and for Judge Kolker’s recognition of the work we do,” said Clarissa Gaff, Executive Director of Land of Lincoln Legal Aid. “Support like this helps us continue providing critical legal assistance to people facing issues that can affect their housing, income, safety, healthcare, and overall stability.”
