Dear Friends:

The eviction moratorium ended in Illinois on October 3. We are receiving countless phone calls daily from all sorts of Illinoisans – grandparents, veterans, families, and others – who are afraid of losing their homes. We are stepping up to meet the need – representing tenants in eviction hearings and working with courts to establish eviction mediation programs and help desks. This year, we even hired case workers to help our clients look for new housing and apply for rental assistance and public benefits.

Below is a text message from one client who was able to move out of her van and into an affordable apartment with the help of our case worker:

But we still need your support. We are struggling to meet the demands for our assistance. For the first time ever, we are getting more calls for help with eviction than any other type of case. Your generosity can help prevent he homelessness of Illinois families.

An anonymous donor has pledged to match the first $1,000 donated by October 31st. Please consider making a gift to Land of Lincoln today by visiting our website.

Thank  you for all that you do to provide safety and stability for Illinoisans.

Yours in solidarity,
Clarissa Gaff, Executive Director
