Briefly describe what you do for Land of Lincoln:
I handle intake for Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) referrals from SIU School of Medicine practitioners and occasionally attend the weekly clinics held at SIU Center for Family Medicine. I assist the attorneys with expungement and sealing cases by conducting preliminary interviews with clients, and secure and evaluate clients’ criminal history information before drafting documents.

What is the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is being able to help clients realize their dreams of cleaning up their criminal records to improve their ability to secure steady employment and housing.

What has been one of your proudest moments working at Land of Lincoln?
My proudest moment is being part of the team that helps clients get their criminal records expunged/sealed, and having clients express how much our assistance means to them.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I love to read mystery/thriller books, ride my e-bike, check out different barbecue restaurants with my hubby (you can’t go wrong with Fire and Smoke in Troy or Beast Craft BBQ in Belleville), and I try to keep up with my grandson, Malachi.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I worked at State Farm for several years as an auto claims adjuster  during the time when adjusters had to go to the scene of a car accident, physically look at clients’ cars, take pictures, and write a repair estimate!

What do you wish other people knew about Land of Lincoln?
I wish other people knew about the dedicated staff who strive every day to help clients work through their legal issues. When I am with friends or family, I try to impress upon them all the good work that is being done by Land of Lincoln and the challenges that low-income clients face with housing, employment, finances, etc.
